Dressing the Part.

I've had an enlightening awakening. I feel so bomb in skinny jeans rolled up at the ankles, paired with my white vans. Without socks, just bare feet. No, I'm serious. I feel so freaking cute. You're probably reading this right now quite lost on where I'm going with this blog post, and what my cuffed jeans and vans have to do with you and your life. The point of this post isn't an argumentative essay on why vans are the best shoe. (Although let's definitely save that idea for another day). I'm writing this for you, to remind you of those clothes, bracelets, that lipstick that you feel so empowered and beautiful in, these things that you've forgotten about. The things you shoved in the back of your closet because you feel that it's "too loud", "too much"? Go find it. Go find your favorite jeans, sneakers, over-sized t-shirt and: Create! A! Power! Outfit! For! Yourself! With what you've got, in your closet right now. By no means do you need to go out and buy a Gucci belt to create a boss, power outfit, unless you have the financial means to do so, and is something you've been itching to do. If that's the case, by all means buy the belt. But the aim of me writing this is to remind you that: your power outfit does not have to be expensive, it doesn't have to look like mine, or anyone else's version of "cute" or powerful. If you feel confident in it: Wear. That. Ish. Girl.

Confidence is a very personal experience, and has nothing to do with external objects, which is something that I want to emphasize. However, I find that especially on weeks or days that I'm not feeling my best, feeling sleepy, not super confident, un-grounded in myself, any of these things ~ if I put on a color that I love, or pants that make me feel powerful, it has a significant effect on how my mood changes. And even when I AM feeling all the good things; feeling confident, beautiful, powerful, strong, wearing clothes, bracelets, the SIMPLE things that make me feel empowered has been a game changer for myself.

Now, what you feel beautiful and confident in is something that you'll have to decide for yourself, and may have to be found through experimenting with various clothing items, styles, prints, etc. Try things out! Be expressive. For me, I adore being comfortable. And I still feel powerful in my comfy style. I also embrace the variety of my style. For example: I was outfit planning my week ahead this afternoon, and I'm planning on wearing joggers, an army green top (my color right now- I'm obsessed) tomorrow, but on Friday, for a presentation I'm giving, I'm wearing a business blazer and low ponytail. And one day, honestly I'm really feeling my baggy sweats with a vest. And these are all still my power outfits because, in each of them, comfy or not, I feel empowered and like I'm expressing myself, through wearing clothing that I enjoy, and want to put on my body.

I encourage you to find the simple things that you feel empowered and fully YOU in, regardless of what that looks like to those around you. Wear that scrunchie you love so much more often. Part your hair that way you tried the other day and loved, for a few days this week.

Let's all work to pay closer attention to how things make us feel.

Because as they say: "it's the little things".

All love ~

Xx
