Becoming a Morning Person. ~ My Tips ~

Hi cute human. I'm about to create a scene for you to envision in your mind. Beep beep. It’s your alarm. One word: yuck. Immediate stress is creeping inside you right now, I can feel it. Heartbeat rising, thoughts of the stress that the incoming day may bring are entering your mind, you just want to remain in that stupidly comfortable bed of yours that somehow becomes THAT much warmer once that beep blares. You roll over, slap your alarm so hard it falls off your nightstand, and you sigh a huge sigh of "ugh, here I go againn". If you hardcore resonated with this above scenario, my girl, this post is for you. Because I’ve got exciting news. Mornings do not have to be a remake of that one scene from ‘Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day’ where the entire family’s about to lose their minds (if you have no clue what I'm talking about, you need to see this movie, it's incredible). Mornings can be something you, dare I say...look forward to. Some of you just rolled your eyes. I know it. But hear me out; I am determined to prove this crazy theory as not so crazy. I'm here to help your mornings become something you want to wake up for, rather than something you dread. / / /

Something that I think is important you know is that I most certainly have my days where I snooze a bit too long, throw on a hoodie and can barely open my eyeballs long enough to turn on my Keurig. (Hot, I know!) But, not to toot my own horn or anything, I genuinely do love mornings and, because of that, have gradually developed a few habits that I've noticed make ALL the difference early on in the day.

/ / /

The most impactful piece of advice I can give someone who's looking to become a morning person is to: < implement at least one thing into your morning routine that makes you happy. > This will obviously vary for different people, but one thing I challenged myself to do this past week was to add about 10-15 minutes of yoga into my morning routine. And. Can. I. Tell. You. What an incredible difference it made. I am a huge yoga lover, hence why knowing that I could have time on my mat if I got out of bed a little earlier, was a huge push to get me going + moving.

/ / /

Secondly, I want to push you all to < set your alarm a little bit earlier than normal >, even if it's by 15-20 minutes. This will be hard at first, don't get me wrong, but something I've found is that a rushed morning routine = a chaotic morning routine. When I'm able to take my time, I'm in a much better mood compared to when I'm running around my house like a crazy woman looking for a hair tie because I only have 15 minutes. You feel me?

/ / /

Now, if these first 2 tips stress you out, I have one super simple task to improve your mornings that you don't even have to do in the morning. < Lay your outfits out the night before. > This seems insanely simple, but I promise it helps! Especially if you're someone like me who takes a solid 2.5 years to pick out a simple outfit when it's early in the morning. (Oop). This saves you time, and stress, allowing for an overall smoother routine. Anything you can do to eliminate stress + time in the morning: 100% please do.

Lastly, something mega important I've discovered is that < quiet time is SO so important, especially during those first few hours (or hour) of your day. > This doesn't happen every single day for me quite yet, but something I've been trying to implement more and more is creating time for even 5 simple minutes to sit in meditation and/or have time for prayer to begin my day. This allows myself to feel intentional going into my day, rather than simply going through the motions, and becoming robotic.

I am hardcore rooting for you this week- and I hope my insight will help make your future mornings a lot more peaceful and eliminate some of that dread and/or stress that's associated with the a.m. if you're someone who struggles with them <3.

Cheering you on ~ have the best week!

Xx
